Today’s updated Gold Coast Preview (for a Good track)
Racing on Saturday at the Gold Coast, unbelievably the track was rated a Heavy (10) on Wednesday morning yet it’s very likely we’ll be back to Good come this first event. We kick off with a 900m dash where there won’t be any shortage of early speed. (6) INVINCIBLE HEART appeals off a solid first up run here a fortnight back, she sat wide throughout from the a bad gate yet still finished off soundly. Second up (11) CRUSHER is likely to come in a few gates after scratchings, didn’t fire first up however can improve sharply. (1) MINI MELD is yet another drawn wide, not sure just where he’ll end up in the run however he’s only put in one sub-par performance which was his latest when the saddle shifted.
Suggested Bet – Looking for each-way Invincible Heart.
6 – 1 – 11 – 3
Final Magic Millions lead up for a few, particularly one key contender heading into next week’s rich 2yo race. That key contender is of course (2) SUNLIGHT who was so impressive blitzing her opposition here 2 weeks ago, can’t see anything getting near her again here which will shorten her price right up for next week. The Waterhouse/Bott runner (9) TERMINOLOGY was completely inconclusive on debut at Wyong when missing the start & racing wide, had trialled very impressively prior, big watch. (4) PAQUIRRI & (5) BOOM GIRL both come out of the same race here also a fortnight ago, plenty of merit on both performances & they are definitely in the mix.
Suggested Bet – Sunlight to win.
2 – 9 – 4 – 5
Interesting affair where the betting suggests it’s a two horse race with (1) ALL TOO HUIYING & (3) BOOM BOOM EPIC all set to fight out the finish as they did here a fortnight back. Whilst both will be hard to beat I’m leaning toward (6) LOOK’S LIKE ELVIS on an each-way basis, he’s only a lightly raced gelding who appears to be busting to get out over the longer trips, up to 1800m here he’ll get his chance to run the leaders down. Those playing the exotics should include (2) MISHANI BULLITT & (10) NASHVILLE SKYLINE.
Suggested Bet – Looks Like Elvis each-way.
6 – 1 – 3 – 2
Now that we’re likely to be on a Good surface (3) THE RUMOUR FILE comes right into calculations. A Doomben winner 3 starts back over this 2200m trip he’s subsequently posted a couple of solid finishing 2nd’s same track & distance. Kept nice & fresh he’ll be running home all over the top of these late. (8) EXPLOSIVE ONE & (11) FIRST STIMULUS are also both strong finishing types who comes out of the same race here 2 weeks ago, the harder the leaders go up front here the better their chances.
Suggested Bet – The Rumour File each-way.
3 – 8 – 11 – 10
Trainer Barry Lockwood had a couple of strong chances here in (4) CRUZE & (13) SUSURRI, he may have given us a good lead by scratching the former as the latter was very good here last start. Shuffled back behind a tiring runner approaching the home turn she got going again in the straight to finish less than 2 lengths behind the promising Femme Fireball. (3) COLOSIMO has been up for some time now however comes out of some solid recent races, look for her to be closing in late. 1200m for (1) WUDANG BLADE is a stretch however on his recent form he’s in the mix.
Suggested Bet – Susurri each-way.
13 – 1 – 3 – 5
Very tricky race. The horse mentioned in the previous race (16) CRUZE is going around here off the inside draw & now that we have a likely dry track he appears tough to beat. Only very lightly raced compared to a bunch of seasoned rivals he shows a ton of promise & will gain a perfect run from that ideal barrier. The Matt Dunn pair (3) DELIGHTFUL FEELING & (4) PERFECT DARE certainly come into calculations also aided by drying track, both don’t go a yard on anything wet. The former has trialled well since his latest close up 5th behind Privlaka at Doomben whilst the latter ran his rivals off their legs here two weeks ago.
Suggested Bet – Happy to back Cruze each-way.
16 – 3 – 12 – 15
(8) AQUA VITE put in an enormous effort here last start pushing on from a wide gate to find the front, he then ran the field along at a strong tempo before kicking a couple of lengths clear into the straight. A sitting shot he was run down by only the winner though in what was a very tough & game performance. With a softer time of it here he can make amends. Decent class drop for (1) CANTBUYBETTER who was surprisingly ridden closer to the lead at Doomben last week when not far away, yes up in the weights however cannot be overlooked. (5) DON’T TELL MAMA showed a return to form here last time out, carries the same weight & draws the pole suggesting a cosy run is highly likely.
Suggested Bet – Aqua Vite to win.
8 – 1 – 5 – 2
Plenty of speed engaged here through the pacy types Quatronic, Flamboyer & Bullpit predominantly, there are others though who are also capable of pushing on. (1) SIEGFRIED is 5 weeks between runs & rising 150m however his first up run was good in the George Moore & he’s likely to land a good spot just off the likely hectic pace. Very interesting runner is (4) MIGHTY LUKE who is having his first run for Kelly Schweida ex Mick Price down south, holds an exceptional fresh record & strolled home to effortlessly win a recent trial at Doomben. Leaving (3) FLAMBOYER in who has also trialled very well.
Suggested Bet – Siegfried each-way/exotics.
1 – 4 – 3 – 11
Absolute lottery this one! Trainer Rob Heathcote holds a strong hand with 3 acceptors & one of those (14) DON’T DENY US appeals on an each-way basis. He holds a very impressive record having won 3 of 4 outings here all coming over this distance, he’s also unbeaten second up which is the case here off a fast finishing first up run. Stablemate (12) NILETTE will make every use of the inside gate & make a dash for it in the straight, she’ll give you a good sight. (9) PRUE’S ANGEL has the right form however the wrong gate, will need luck or cover early on.
Suggested Bet – Don’t Deny Us each-way.
14 – 12 – 9 – 6

Race 4 # 3 The Rumour File
