Race 5 2.52pm Follow @Aquisfarm On Facebook 3yo Handicap 1200m
No.15 Go Dixie – 1st (1.0L) 27/12 Gold Coast 1000m Maiden trial Soft (TR 96)
Jumped ok, settled 4th in the one x one position 2 lengths from the leader. Urged along around the turn brought right to the outside, given a couple of cracks by jockey Shannon Doyle charged up to the leaders rounding them & coming clear to the line.
Freshened (24 days). Wasn’t the best to jump on debut & as a result gave the leaders 8 lengths start. He was clearly doing his best work late which was also the case in the above trial. Prefer to see him in something easier at this early stage though.

No.3 Delightful Feeling – 2nd (1.0L) 27/12 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Soft (TR 105)
Jumped ok from the outside gate pushing on soon after caught 3 deep 4th spot the leader 5 lengths. Similar into the straight, urged along 200m kept coming right to the line making good ground.
Freshened (28 days). Winner here 4 starts back over this distance & hasn’t been far away all 3 subsequent starts with the latest of those behind the in-form Privlaka running on solidly late. Well drawn & with a drying track his chances are quickly improving.
No.6 Steamin’ – 4th (5.2L) 27/12 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Soft (TR 108)
Jumped just ok, quickly out to last settling down 8 lengths off the lead & 3 wide. Still last into the straight further back if anything & urged along soon after, made ground doing his best work late.
Freshened (28 days). Best form is clearly on wet ground, as this track is drying out that’s not going to help his chances. Needs another deluge…
Race 8 4.50pm Aquis Farm Pre-Training And Agistment Open Handicap 1200m
No.3 Flamboyer – 1st (4.25L) 27/12 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Soft (TR 108)
Jumped well going straight to the lead from the inside gate dashing out 3 lengths clear. Full of running approaching the turn, cornered with a bigger break, cruised down to the line with the jock having a casual look around close to the post (wore heavy shoes).
Resuming (15 weeks). Quality sprinter who has only won fresh on the single occasion which was on a Heavy 9 track on debut back in January 13. Trialled very well though clocking slick time with the heavy shoes on & his pattern is to be in the firing line right from the outset. Must include.
No.4 Mighty Like – 1st (0.8L) 12/12 Doomben 840m Open trial Good (TR 92)
Jumped ok, no rush settling down 2nd last 4 lengths off the lead out 3 deep. No closer into the straight however picking up ground seemingly under his own steam soon after, ambled on past the leader late to cruise home under a hold.
Resuming (11 weeks). Ex Victorian (Mick Price) now with the Kelly Schweida yard who holds a very impressive first up record winning three & placing twice from 6 attempts. 4 of his 10 wins have been over this distance & although the trial was won in slow time he only cruised down the straight. Big market watch!
No.11 Zin Zan Eddie – 1st (1.0L) 27/12 Gold Coast 1000m Open trial Soft (TR 105)
Jumped well, straight to the front didn’t push on though settled 2nd off the fence 3 lengths from the leader. Margin a length greater into the straight however not for long as he was asked to give chase soon after quickly closing the margin to edge clear late, certainly not punished (wore heavy shoes).
Resuming (18 weeks). Ex NSW (Matthew Smith) now with the Helen Page stable. Yet to win first up from 8 attempts however has placed on 3 occasions & did look good dashing away late when winning the trial. Well drawn is one to keep on the safe side…
No.12 Counter Meal – 3rd (0.6L) 19/12 Deagon 1000m Open trial Good (TR 113)
Jumped only averagely no rush settled down last fence 8 lengths from the tearaway leader. 2nd last sticking to the inside 400m, cornered within 3 lengths, altered course late finishing close up with plenty left to offer.
Freshened (35 days). Found to be short striding in front first up when beaten almost 14 lengths. He’s generally a good fresh performer who showed no issues in the subsequent trial above however he is far better suited on a wet surface. Connections will be praying for a storm or two!
