Barrier trial horses to follow this Saturday… (14/10/2017)
The following runners have caught the eye at their recent barrier trial/s & are running this weekend.
As many are first up or resuming from spells it’s always a good lead to see them solid or firm in the market. Should they drift it’s wise to keep them in mind for another day.
Race 9 # 14 Carzoff (Chris Waller)
4th (2.8L) 10/10 Gold Coast 900m Class 1 – 5 trial Good (TR 106)
Jumped only averagely quickly out the back settled 2nd last just over 7 lengths off the lead. No closer into the straight, did pick up nicely soon after though making ground before just coasting over the concluding stages.
Resuming (106 days). French import who only had three 3 starts at his initial Australian campaign placing twice with a 4th at the only other run. Definitely going to be better suited as he gets over further ground however he’s not without a winning chance & his trial was a nice quiet one finishing off well without any pressure. In the market which is no surprise…
Race 2 # 4 Sonic Bloom (David Fletcher)
2nd (2.3L) 10/10 Gold Coast 900m Maiden trial Good (TR 99)
Jumped ok, going forward soon after parked close up behind a bunched up group of leaders just over 2 lengths away. Cornered similar just coasting along, ambled to 2nd under a nice hold late.
Trialled twice now winning the other in comfortable fashion. Plenty left to offer in this heat & note this will be his first run for the new stable.
Race 4 # 5 The Hussler (Kelly Schweida)
4th (2.5L) 19/9 Doomben 840m Maiden trial Good (TR 98)
Jumped well, settled 3rd 4 lengths away under a hold & not enjoying it overracing. Closer into the straight, held ground & was never really let down still racing keenly right to the line (wore heavy shoes).
Quiet trial typical of the stable, even off the awkward gate is still one to definitely keep an eye on.
Gold Coast – Race 2 # 1 Lord Of The Dreamz & Race 4 # 11 Sweet Orphan (both are exotics musts)
