Here’s the weekends Best Bets…!
DOOMBEN RACE 2 # 16e JETSONIC
Although an emergency I’d be surprise if this one missed a start as there are a number of dual acceptors engaged. Well worth a spec at better than each-way odds as he’s unbeaten at three first up attempts and comes into this having trialled very well recently in open company. Should be ready to go.
DOOMBEN RACE 5 # 1 CHARLIE BOY
Perhaps disappointing to some however I didn’t think so when unplaced here a fortnight back. Yes he did score the run of the race behind the leader however when carrying 59.5kg it’s not easy to pick up and sprint when the gap appears in the straight. This time he’s drawn off the fence where he can get to the outside and start rolling early in the straight, once wound up he can run right over the leaders.
DOOMBEN RACE 6 # 6 STANLEY
Up and coming stayer who looks perfectly placed to make it 2 wins from his past 3 starts. Strong under challenge when scoring here two starts back he then beat all bar Devil Hawk here two weeks ago sticking to his task in good style down the straight. They line up for a return bout however this time around Stanley receives a whopping 5.5kg weight turnaround and is drawn to get a cosy run whereas Devil Hawk will start from out nearer the outside fence.
DOOMBEN RACE 7 # 13 GYPSY MISS
Finally draws an alley after a working overtime her last couple out facing the breeze. Her effort here last start to go down narrowly behind Pleased was as game as they come after tracking deep the entire trip. She meets that runner better at the weights tomorrow and will get her chance to break back into the winners circle.
RANDWICK RACE 1 # 3 CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES
Filly from the Bjorn Baker stable who is unbeaten at her only two starts to date. Note both of those wins have been first up and she again resumes tomorrow. She’s trialled nicely behind the Group 2 winning mare Dixie Blossoms and the money has rolled in for her ever since early markets were posted. She can return a winner.
GOLD COAST RACE 5 # 10 CHARMING PRINCE
Lightly raced gelding from the Helen Page stable who should have beaten Umberto here last start if not for wanting to lay in behind that runner twice over the final 200m of the race. That was only his third start suggesting there’s plenty more improvement to come, confident he can make amends.
SUNSHINE COAST (SUNDAY) RACE 6 # 6 REGNANT
Lightly raced 4yo mare who trialled very well leading into her first up victory at the Gold Coast over the short 900m trip. Sharply up to 1200m at Ipswich last start she worked to find the lead early on just feeling the pinch late. Back to 1000m is perfect and I’d suggest she’ll be winning.
