EAGLE FARM

Best Backed: Spruik horse Mr. Wind was hammered from $3.00 into $2.10. He captured two thirds of the money held on Race 6, but missed the kick and the cash went amiss.

Hard Lay: Punters failed to warm to Brazen Moss, who was $3.00 out to $4.00 in Race 7.

Bookie Basher: $8.00 winner Mr. Jestset was well found in the last and tough beat for the UBET fixed odds team. It was a good day overall though for the Brisbane bag men.

Early Bird Special: After opening at $7.00, Nicconi Leggera was crunched into $3.30 and won.

Flop: Mr. Wind. See above.

CAULFIELD

Best Backed: Despite his Makybe Diva Stakes defeat, Black Heart Bart was backed like a good thing all week from $2.80 into $2.25. He won the Underwood like a good thing too. Hard Lay: Underwood Stakes second elect Lucia Valentina was a hard sell for the fixed odds team, drifting from $3.80 to $5.50.

Bookie Basher: $3.30 pop Royal Rapture drove another dagger into bookies’ hearts in Race 3. Punters cleaned out the UBET coffers when the Weir-runner waltzed in.

Early Bird Special: Bon Arum went up $7.00 for the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and was quickly picked off, jumping $4.40.

Flop: Punters pinned their hopes on Pay Up Bro, $3.00 into $2.60, in Race 3, but he let them down with a midfield finish. Race 5 top elect Whispering Brook gets an honourable mention; $5.00 into $2.05 and the West Australian was first horse beaten.

ROSEHILL

Best Backed: $3.30 into $2.90, First Seal was a huge go in the Golden Pendant, holding 55% of all money wagered on the race.

Hard Lay: Race 1 favourite Antonio Giuseppe was $2.50 mid-morning before drifting to $3.40 at the jump. The longer punters waited, the more they won.

Bookie Basher: Extensible, at $3.30, got more than a few out of jail in the last, which was, naturally enough, one of the biggest betting races.

Early Bird Special: Moral Victory landed some big bets in Race 8, having been backed into $5.00 from $8.50.

Flop: Swear, $5.50 into $3.30, jumped on top, but had absolutely no luck in the run and finished out of the frame.

FUTURES MOVERS

Cox Plate: Black Heart Bart $21 into $14.

Thousand Guineas: Legless Veuve $35 into $13.

Caulfield Guineas: Impending $7.00 into $4.50 and Sacred Elixir $5.50 into $5.00.

Melbourne Cup: Almandin $81 into $35.
