Magic Millions contender? Waterhouse juvenile ready to rumble on debut
Gai Waterhouse has declared one of her juveniles set to debut at Rosehill this Saturday will make it to Group I level after a scintillating piece of trackwork at Randwick.
Waterhouse “wouldn’t leave the Magic Millions sale in January without her” and on Saturday punters will see Right Of Way show why her trainer holds such high praise for the daughter of Denman.
“She’s a tall, leggy filly and this time next year she’ll be running in the (VRC) Oaks,” Waterhouse said.
“She’s by Denman but the way she looks and moves says she’ll be best suited over much further than what she’ll run over this weekend.
“But off what we saw in her final piece of trackwork, she’s ready to win first-up and often these classic horses that show potential in their juvenile season, end up being the top grade horses.”
Right Of Way contains some of the owners from Fiorente fame and arrives at Saturday’s 2YO Plate off the back a strong trial win over 740 metres.
“The distance on Saturday will be much more to her liking,” Waterhouse said.
“She left her partner lengths behind in her gallop and she’s a horse we’ve been very keen on for some time.
“But that’s what happens you see something in these young horses and then you watch them develop into the horses people talk about.”
