Explanation for Doomben rail movement on Saturday November 1
Message form the Brisbane Racing Club’s Doomben Track Manager Jim Roberts
Explanation for rail movement on Saturday, November 1.
I have taken the decision to place the rail for the meeting on Saturday in the seven metres position for the entire circuit.
The track has coped well with a heavy load of 10 race meetings since the closure of Eagle Farm as a racing venue on August 20.
In this rare scenario where Doomben has to bear all the BRC meetings until the return of racing at Eagle Farm sometime next year it is imperative I and my track staff have to manage the course proper very carefully.
In the interests of presenting a good racing surface and an acceptable width of the track it is therefore necessary to put in place a timetable of rail movements at Doomben.
I doing this I have been mindful of the major races coming up at the Queensland summer carnival in November and December.
I know my decision to go to seven metres on Saturday will not be well received by some sections of the industry. But it is a decision based on the long term and best interests of all.’
