Doomben 22nd July 2014

Listed below are some highlights from the above session, please note for full comprehensive reports on ALL barrier trial sessions held in South East Queensland please click on the Queensland Trial Review banner to your right.

Trainer Bryan Dais walked away with a double after his 2yo pair Melanya & Soldi Domani won their respective heats in promising fashion. Bon Hoffa filly Melanya has had the 3 starts & wound up her initial campaign with a close 3rd in Metropolitan Saturday grade behind the well performed youngster No Problem at Doomben back in March. She cruised to the line in her heat to win convincingly & looks to have improved plenty over the break.

52.5K Keep The Faith colt (by a Bel Esprit mare) Soldi Domani finished a close 2nd in a trial here two weeks ago behind Liam Birchley’s Draglign in good time, he went one better this time around attacking the line late to score with authority. Really looking forward to seeing him step out in coming weeks.

Rarely do we see a Peter Moody runner in this neck of the woods (bar carnival time) however he produced the 400K Shamardal colt Better Land to win Heat 7. Haven’t seen this one since he scored impressively at Sale back in April, the stable have spring 3yo plans however there’s a possibility he’ll have one local run before heading back down south. Whilst only winning by a small margin he basically cruised to the line with plenty left in reserve. Placegetters Life At Sea & Pienkna weren’t far away & should also be kept safe when next going around.
